This teapot has an internal strainer, and is signed on the bottom with the production number 2996. Markings : Sadler teapots made between 1899 and 1937 have an impressed mark reading "ENGLAND JSSB". This is a beautiful Sadler #2996 teapot that was made in England, some time between 1938 and 1949. The James Sadler company became a world famous manufacturing company, known for marrying fine English pottery techniques with highly decorative, collectible shapes. Founded in1882 in Staffordshire, England, James Sadler and Sons Ltd. produced teapots until the company went into receivership in 2000. Churchill China later purchased the rights to the Sadler brand and continued producing teapots for collectors until 2021. Good To Know   Shape : The "Cube" teapot was designed for at-that-time travel, and was patented in 1917 by English engineer Robert Crawford Johnson. Unlike round teapots, the square geometry stacked tightly for easy & safe storage, and would not roll and spill hot tea on rough ocean waves.  Markings : Sadler teapots made between 1899 and 1937 have an impressed mark reading "ENGLAND JSSB". Internal Stainer : Genuine pre- 1952 Sadler teapots have an internal strainer. ______________________________________________________________________________________ This lovely teapot is made of ivory-colored porcelain and has the charming cubed shape. It is hand-painted, and decorated with a generous 24K gold filigree design of delicate leaves and flowers. It has a 4 cup capacity and is 9.25" wide from spout tip to handle. It stands 6.25" high to the top of the lid and is 4.5" in depth.  This piece was used very lovingly, as there is no inside stains from use, and no chips or cracks can be seen. There is very minimal crazing that can only be seen under a bright light, and loss of gold is minor.  This teapot has an internal strainer, and is signed on the bottom with the production number 2996.  What a charming piece to add to your collection or use to add a touch of grace to that tea or garden party!
