Weighing a substantial 2.2 lbs despite its compact size, this piece features beautiful, crisp relief work, medallion borders along the rim, and elegant scrolled handles resting on a slender pedestal socle base. The interior of the bowl features a distinct central lathe mark, proving it was hand-finished on a machine lathe after casting. The loose-fitting ornate lid allows airflow, historically used to let scented smoke escape when burning pastilles (incense pellets). Condition Report:    This piece is in excellent antique condition and displays beautifully. Please note that this is a true historical item and has not been stored in a box since new; it carries a genuine, natural history of display.It has been gently cleaned with mild soap to preserve its gorgeous, deep "chocolate" antique patina. Stunning golden-bronze highlights naturally peek through along the high-relief edges and handles when caught in the light. Minor Flaws:    To be completely transparent, there are a couple of very light, faint surface scratches on the side and a tiny speck of natural green verdigris tucked underneath one handle. Neither is easily noticeable or detracts from display. The bottom of the pedestal base features a clean, fine felt pad to protect your tabletop surfaces.
