This set is in very good vintage condition, colors remain bright and vibrant, the gold trim is well-intact, and the set shows very minimal signs of handling. Here is exactly how we can date it using the maker's mark: The Royal Warrants: The backstamp proudly states: "By Appointment to H.M. The Queen & H.M. Queen Mary". The Historical Timeline: Paragon was granted a royal warrant by Queen Mary in 1933. A few years later, in 1938, they were granted a second warrant by Queen Elizabeth (the wife of King George VI, who is more commonly remembered today as the Queen Mother). The Double Mark: Paragon began using this specific double-warrant backstamp mentioning both Queens in 1939. They continued to use this exact stamp until King George VI passed away in 1952 and Queen Mary passed in 1953. Following this, the royal titles changed with the ascension of Queen Elizabeth II, and Paragon updated their backstamps accordingly. This teacup and saucer set is a fantastic piece of mid-century English history dating right around the World War II and immediate post-war era.
