Sold as a pair  A wonderfully expressive pair of Chinese porcelain vases, hand painted with complementary figural scenes in a classic palette of celadon green, iron red, black and soft yellow. Though matched in form and spirit, each tells its own story — one with figures gathered among abundant garden imagery and a wheeled cart, the other with two figures beneath a delicate lotus. Turn them again and the scenes give way to beautifully painted pine, landscape and generous passages of porcelain white. Each bears a six-character Da Qing Kangxi Nian Zhi mark to the base — “Made during the Kangxi reign of the Great Qing.” Such marks were also used on later Chinese porcelain in homage to the Kangxi period; these pieces have not been independently authenticated or dated , and are offered for their decorative and artistic beauty. Hand-painted porcelain with the small firing marks, glaze irregularities and signs of age that give older handmade pieces their individual character. Please review photographs closely for condition.
