View Vintage German Mercury Glass Turquoise Peacock Clip Ornament Spun Glass Tail 7” with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. The three-pronged crown remains intact, the elongated beak is complete, the original spring clip functions properly, and the decorative tail is still present. The tail has been preserved with an older transparent tape stabilization repair and displays with a slight off-center lean. An exceptional antique German peacock clip-on Christmas ornament featuring a beautifully molded silvered mercury glass body, brilliant turquoise neck and head, emerald green applied wings, gilded accents, and an original hand-painted spun-glass tail. This peacock is an especially attractive example because it retains many of the delicate features that are often damaged or missing on surviving ornaments. The three-pronged crown remains intact, the elongated beak is complete, the original spring clip functions properly, and the decorative tail is still present. The body displays an impressive amount of molded detail. The textured feather pattern across the back, the sculpted emerald wing feathers, and the gold-painted wing accents create wonderful depth and dimension. The neck and head retain their beautiful satin turquoise finish, which contrasts nicely against the pearl silver body. The tail consists of a fan-shaped arrangement of translucent spun-glass fibers decorated with hand-painted peacock-eye markings. The tail has been preserved with an older transparent tape stabilization repair and displays with a slight off-center lean. I have intentionally left the repair untouched so the ornament remains exactly as found. This ornament came from a family collection containing older German Christmas ornaments and has the wonderful character and patina collectors appreciate in authentic vintage pieces.
