EPOXY GLUE OR SOFT SOLDER THESE ONTO EARRING BACKSIDE. This is one of the easiest ways of attaching a post to your earring creations. Very easy for any beginner or the seasoned pro. Shown enlarged for detail If using epoxy, make sure to mix equal parts of glue. Stir mixture for one minute using a toothpick until it looks frothy. Wait a couple of minutes for mixture to thicken and then apply. This will prevent your earring post pad from moving around on the earring while setting up. Do not cross contaminate tube caps of the epoxy. You can soft solder these earring post pads to your metal earring fixture using plumbers silver solder. This is really tin solder. There is no sterling silver in it. They are referring to the joint color, not the silver content. You can purchase this at any home center in the plumbing dept. Where copper water pipe is sold. Also be sure to purchase the liquid flux. This type of soldering is called soft solder because it is accomplished with very low temperatures. Something like 400 degrees. You can use a mini butane pencil torch for this very easily. Just make sure your earring top does not have any stones or enameling, paint, acrylics etc., As those would burn in the process. You can solder your earring post pad and then apply stones or decoration later. With earring top face down on a heat resistant pad, (see my non-asbestos soldering pad), apply flux to spot where you want post to sit. Apply a tiny snippet of solder, (usually comes in a coil). Apply flux to flat side of earring post pad. Heat earring top with torch until solder puddles, (remove heat). This will happen very fast because of low temperature. Apply earring post pad and apply heat once more very briefly. If earring post pad moves, you can use jewelers tweezers to reposition. Dip your jewelers tweezers in plain water and drop a couple of drops on the earring to cool. Condition: New without tags.
