Antique Japanese Kutani porcelain serving dish/platter featuring a beautifully hand-painted colorful bird perched on a branch surrounded by orange, yellow and green autumn foliage. The shaped oval body has integral handles and an unusual black border accented with hand-painted gilt decoration. The underside bears a hand-painted underglaze blue Japanese Kutani mark. Based on the decoration, construction and mark, this appears to be an older Japanese Kutani piece, likely dating to the early 20th century / Meiji-Taishō era. Condition: Displays nicely with age-related wear. There is a small chip on the underside/bottom edge of the left handle, as shown in the photos. There is also mild edge wear and loss/wear to portions of the black and gold decoration, particularly around the handles and rim. Additional light surface/decoration wear consistent with age.
