Old Carnelian Beads Restrung Strand Beaded w Seed Bead Vintage Necklace 28 inch  This really nice old carnelian bead necklace is preowned and is in good vintage condition for the right person. The beads of this necklace appear to be trade beads but we cannot confirm. Each bead looks slightly different and has a handmade appearance. The necklace came from the SW region of the USA and we believe that the beads were repurposed and restrung on nylon with added orange glass seed beads. The carnelian beads themselves have natural flaws, some cloudy patches, some "blood spots" and imperfections. They have a less glassy sheen than brand new carnelian beads. The beads have a soft finish with a shiny yet satiny patina.  The necklace measures approximately 28" from end to end and locks with barrel clasp. The necklace may possibly be doubled by using the clasp and of course this depends on neck size. The beads measure about 1/4" or about 7 mm. There are no hallmarks that we can find. The necklace is dated to the 1970s, possibly a tad bit later, however, we are quite sure the beads are older and close to being antique based on appearance. Conditional issues are natural flaws to the beads as described above, metal wear to the clasp, surface scratching, light chipping, the nylon does not lay properly when flat but when worn it evens out with signs of use and wear.  This necklace is best suited for someone who enjoys older, preowned jewelry which sometimes have a few flaws or imperfections but have character, history and some mystery too.
