RARE Art Deco Era Eye Sterling Silver Glass Star Sapphire Costume Vtg Pin Brooch 1 INCH  This amazing, rare art deco style eye brooch is preowned and is in good condition for the right person. This brooch is dated to the 1930s, perhaps a tad bit later. The brooch is very small, a bit over an inch and is made of sterling silver and blue glass, in this particular pin known as sapphire star glass, which has a beautiful star reflection in the blue glass when looked at in the light. The blue glass is a domed, oval cabochon sitting right in the center of the open metal almost like an eye. Inside the blue glass there are two air bubbles that can be seen which is a flaw and from making of the glass. The design is so art deco with the open metal and navette or eye shaped design which was prevalent at the times. The brooch measures approximately 1 & 1/8" long x 1/2" wide. This pin opens and closes with a rolling C clasp and the clasp, lock, pin and hinge are tight and working appropriately. The brooch pin is only hallmarked on the back with STERLI(ng) which is on the hinged side of the clasp. The imprint writing is very small and does not contain all the letters for sterling. Conditional issues are two air bubbles in the glass (manufacturing flaw), aging metal, metal wear, some loss of plating and/or rubbing, a bit of tarnish and/or patina, surface scratching with signs of use and wear. This tiny, small pin brooch is best for someone who adores vintage jewelry which may have a few flaws and imperfections but have character, history and a bit of mystery too.
