View Vintage Women's Japanese Silk Kimono HAORI Jacket Subtle Pattern w Samurai Crest with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. A silk haori woman's jacket we brought from Kyoto. This would have been worn over a similar all black long kimono. Also, formal wear. It also has a small samurai crest (mon) just behind the back of the neck.    A silk haori woman's jacket we brought from Kyoto.  This and the others we have listed are from our personal collection.  This one is unique because of the subtle texture in the silk material.  Look closely at the photos especially the close-up in the last photo and this texture can be seen in the material. (We overexposed that photo to show the pattern within the silk material) A lot of Japanese art and life is in a "wabi-sabi" feeling where the beauty is quietly shown . . . Only if you look closely.  It also has a small samurai crest (mon) just behind the back of the neck. (See close up photos)  This means the original owner of this could claim samurai ancestors from their family name. The all-black exterior is an indication this was formal wear; bought out only for important occasions and not worn every day. This would have been worn over a similar all black long kimono. Also, formal wear. (The small round items in the photos are magnets holding the haori to the wall for taking photos) This is pretty much a one size fits all.  The sleeves are meant to go to the middle of the forearms. From shoulder seam to shoulder seam its 24 1/2 inches The total length is 29 1/2 inches from the shoulder to the bottom seam.
