A classic piece of 1950s-1960s Japanese export decor – these ISCO boxes are collectible for their vibrant hand-painted details! "Hand Painted" in cursive. Charming vintage mid-century Japanese hand-painted lacquerware box from ISCO – perfect as a small trinket box, jewelry holder, or decorative accent! This round black lacquer box features a beautiful hand-painted floral bouquet on the lid with roses and blooms in soft whites, yellows, oranges, and greens, accented by gold scroll borders. The base is sturdy papier-mâché style construction with a glossy "Alcohol Proof" lacquer finish that's resistant to spills (great for vanity or bar use back in the day). Originally designed as a storage box for drink coasters (common mid-century Japanese export item), this one is empty – making it ideal for repurposing as a trinket, pill, or keepsake box.
