This original 1860s Victorian tintype plate photograph features a seated young woman in period dress, housed in its original embossed wood and leatherette half-case. The interior includes an ornate gold-tone brass mat and wrap that beautifully frames the image. There is a chip on the glass in the top left corner. There is some visible dust between the glass and the image, which is common for pieces of this age and adds to its authentic antique character. The case has minor wear around the edges but remains solid and intact. The top of the "frame" is missing as this is where the case was hinged. A genuine piece of early American photography, ideal for collectors of tintypes, Victorian portraiture, or Civil War-era artifacts. Measures approximately 3.25 x 3.75 inches. Condition: Used.
