Although fully glazed, the bowl has an interesting, low- sheen finish. Powerful vintage serving bowl stuns with a large, expressively painted fish as its central visual. The MCM/ Italian rustic-style studio piece, done in a washy, minimal palette of Prussian blue, raw umber , lilac and heathered pink on sand, is further distinguished by its precise attention to shape, finish and texture. Basically a round shape, the large (11") bowl breaks its expected symmetry with two " indent" rim details that form natural grip points, or handles. Although fully glazed, the bowl has an interesting, low- sheen finish. Some analogous-colored drip work on the outer lip and a rough, sandpaper-y finish on the fish's fins add textural contrast abd a slightly sculptural feel. A faint speckling detail throughout further adds to the sense of dimension and depth. . Condition is excellent, with clear colors and no chips, fading or staining. There are two minute possible hairlines above the fin, as pictured. I cannot feel these. ( and can barely see them) , ut i have shown them at 5x magnification because I prefer all my customers' surprises be happy ones.
