View Vintage Mixed Silver Moroccan Tuareg Cross Pendant North African Tribal Berber with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. The Tuareg people are a large Berber ethnic group that principally inhabit the Sahara in a vast area stretching from far southwestern Libya to southern Algeria, Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso. Tuareg cross from the city of Iferouane in the African Country of Niger. This impressive piece has a 20 inch long glass beaded chain with handmade silver channel beads.  The channel beads on one side are slightly different from the other.  The glass beads are uniform.  The closure is a strong corded string.  the pendant alone weighs in at just under 20 grams.  I assume this is made from a mixed silver.  It is signed E+ C+ with three dots in a triangular array on the back.  It is finely engraved - a very lovely piece.  The pendant it 3 1/4 inches high by 2 3/4 inches wide.  This came from an estate sale, so I don't know more about its provenance.  I have not polished it as some people like a bit of patina.  I would likely polish up nicely. They are a semi-nomadic people who practice Islam, and are descended from the indigenous Berber communities of Northern Africa, which have been described as a mosaic of local Northern African, Middle Eastern, European, and Sub-Saharan African-related ancestries, prior to the Arab expansion. Tuareg people are credited with the spreading of Islam in North Africa and the adjacent Sahel region.
