Beautiful large vintage Chinese cloisonné vase featuring exceptionally detailed multicolor enamel decoration against a rich cobalt-blue ground. Standing approximately 15 inches tall , this substantial vase is decorated with an elaborate basket overflowing with peonies, chrysanthemums and other blossoms, surrounded by intricate floral and foliate designs worked in fine metal wire. Additional flowering branches and dense blue-on-blue floral decoration continue around the body. The vase features numerous decorative borders in turquoise, pink, green, yellow, white, orange and black enamel, along with substantial gilt/brass-tone metal mounts at the flared mouth and pedestal foot. Both mounts are decorated with an embossed interlacing wave/braid design. The complexity of the cloisonné work is especially impressive, with extensive fine wire outlining throughout the principal floral motifs as well as the cobalt-blue background. Measurements: Approximately 15" tall × 6" across the top opening.
