Antique late-19th-century black Victorian fitted bodice/overdress, believed to date to approximately the 1890s. Beautiful period garment featuring dramatic full puff/leg-of-mutton sleeves, high neckline, fitted gathered waist, decorative vertical bodice detailing, fitted cuffs and a wide flared peplum. The black fabric has a beautiful silk-like sheen and the interior construction is clearly visible in the photographs. No maker’s label has been found.
