This exquisite antique micro beaded reticule is a beautiful survivor from the late Victorian to Edwardian period, likely dating to approximately 1890-1910. Thousands of tiny glass seed beads create an exceptionally detailed floral composition against a dramatic black ground, with pink roses and blossoms, vivid green foliage, silvery white accents and elaborate geometric detailing worked throughout the lower portion. The beadwork is remarkably intricate. A large central rose anchors the design while smaller blossoms and trailing leaves create an almost tapestry-like surface. Contrasting silvery white beadwork forms sweeping geometric sections around the rounded base, and the decorative beaded border at the opening adds another layer of detail. A small coordinating beaded ornament finishes the bottom. The purse retains its black fabric drawstring top with pleated ruffle, twisted cord handles and metal guide rings.
