This circa 1983-1984 ankle-length evening gown from Bill Blass Collection III features a sumptuous midnight blue silk velvet shell with a surplice bodice, a high waist, and a long, swagged and ruched peplum. This circa 1983-1984 ankle-length evening gown from Bill Blass Collection III features a sumptuous midnight blue silk velvet shell with a surplice bodice, a high waist, and a long, swagged and ruched peplum. The peplum originates below the bodice a few inches above the waist. It's swagged in front where it curves and covers the hips, and ruched along the sides of the zipper seam in back. The dress has large shoulder pads, three-quarter sleeves, and a long walking vent in back. There is no fabric label, but the shell fabric looks and feel like 100% silk velvet (the only other option being a silk and rayon blend), and the lining looks and feels like silk. Labeled size 8, but this is a vintage dress, and the measurements indicate it is closer to a modern size 6. Review the photos carefully, because they, too, are part of the description. MEASUREMENTS* - Underam chest measurement is 36"  - Waist is 27" - Hips are about 38"  - Length is 52" down center back. *Do not rely only on the size label or estimated size to determine fit.   Always compare actual measurements with a similar garment that fits you.
