View Vintage Fontanini Large Paper Mache Angel Kneeling Nativity Italy 9" (12" Set) with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. This 9” blue paper mache angel appears to be from the Fontanini 12” series made in Italy, likely the early 1960’s possibly 1963. There are many areas the delicate paint has chipped. The nose, lip and chin also have some paint chipped. Unlike the earlier produced figures, this angel was finished in the Florentine Pastel Palette, muted colors . The base is concave, wings are compact, and hands crossed on the chest help identify age. This piece has the appearance of the newer figures manufactured with plastic resins and a muted color palette. These figures can be difficult to find due to their fragile nature.
