Rather than a traditional repeating quilt pattern, the front is assembled from assorted fabric pieces and tied throughout with dark blue yarn. Vintage Primitive Scrap Patchwork Tied Lap Quilt / Utility Blanket – 43" x 36" Unusual old handmade make-do utility quilt or lap blanket constructed from an assortment of repurposed scrap fabrics, including plaids, prints and solids in pink, green, blue, brown, black, white and other colors. Rather than a traditional repeating quilt pattern, the front is assembled from assorted fabric pieces and tied throughout with dark blue yarn. The backing is made from two different blanket-like fabrics, including a pale green section and a peach checked section. This is a surprisingly substantial little quilt, measuring approximately 43" x 36" and weighing approximately 3 lbs before shipping materials. CONDITION: This is a heavily used old textile being sold in as-found condition. The front fabrics are extremely puckered, gathered and distorted. It appears possible that the quilt was washed at some point and that one or more layers shrank differently, creating the unusual puckered appearance, but I do not know its history and cannot say for certain. There are stains, discoloration, wear and holes, including a visible hole in the pale green backing. Please enlarge and review all photographs and video carefully. They are an important part of the condition description. The backing has a wool-like/blanket texture, but fiber content has not been tested and I am not representing it as 100% wool. I have not washed, ironed, repaired or otherwise attempted to restore this piece. Despite—or perhaps because of—its wonderfully rumpled condition, it has loads of primitive make-do character. It may appeal to collectors of old utility quilts, primitive textiles and folk art, or for cabin/farmhouse display, textile study, restoration or cutter/repurposing use.
