The artisan combined a smoothly polished body with hand-carved detailing throughout the head, beak, neck, wings and tail feathers. The sculpture remains intact and displays well. Construction: Hand carved. Vintage hand-carved Mexican wood eagle sculpture , measuring approximately 8" tall. This handsome folk-art carving depicts a stylized eagle perched upright on a faceted wooden base. The sculpture is carved from a dense, richly colored hardwood, believed to be Mexican desert ironwood , with a deep reddish-brown finish and attractive natural grain. The artisan combined a smoothly polished body with hand-carved detailing throughout the head, beak, neck, wings and tail feathers. The underside retains its original gold foil “Crafted in Mexico” label and also bears a hand-carved inscription or signature. The individual artisan has not been positively identified. Measurements: 8" tall × 5" wide × 3.5" deep Condition: Good vintage condition with surface wear, scratches and natural variations consistent with age and handmade construction. There is a prominent drying/age crack across the underside of the base , as clearly shown in the photographs. The sculpture remains intact and displays well.
