GUERRERO-STYLE. Circa 1970's. Wood-carved guardian angels and winged cherubs used to be a part of home décor in the Mexican villages for centuries, since they are believed to bring good luck. The sculptures were carved from a solid Madera wood; Gesso was then applied on the front part and painted over. Wings are attached by nails. There are no two Cherub heads that are exactly alike. Each wood-carved Cherub head represents a beautiful piece of Mexican folk art! This beautiful wall sculpture of a double cherub head ("DobleCara") is done in GUERRERO style, with two heads - each has different expression and character - carved from one solid piece of Madera wood, with wings attached. This gorgeous wall statue appears to be in good vintage condition.
