This rare mug features a pair of ducks nestled in reeds on a speckled ground with a beautiful blue band around the bottom of the mug. The handle and rim are accented in rich brown. Holds 1 cup. One small nick on bottom rim seems to have been made at manufacture (see photo). Though unbranded, this vintage stoneware mug is identified by its style and finely detailed image as Otagiri dating from the 1980s. Otagiri stoneware is vintage Japanese pottery and ceramics produced for Western markets from the 1960s until 1994 by the Otagiri Mercantile Company (OMC). The company, based in the US, collaborated with American designers while maintaining production in Japan, creating a unique aesthetic that blends Eastern craftsmanship with Western sensibilities.
