This particular 2 3/8-inch seed pot is an exceptional showcase of the meticulous sgraffito (etched) technique . The entire spherical surface is enveloped in a dense, unbroken display of traditional geometric fine-line patterns and sharp, interlocking triangles. The deep, rich black segments provide a bold contrast against the meticulously carved, fine-lined terracotta ground. Handcrafting a piece of this scale requires incredible patience, steady hand-eye coordination, and a mastery of native clay mediums. The base is clearly hand-inscribed by the artists: "D.M.P. / Laguna-Acoma / N.M."
