RARE Vintage Joan Rivers Dazzling Black Enamel Rose/Gardenia Brooch Earrings  NIB.  I purchased a lot of Joan Rivers pins/brooches when I worked to wear on jackets, scarves, and dresses. This listing is for a beautifully designed statement black enamel rose brooch and matching clip back earrings that I purchased in 2008, that I found stored, new in their original boxes. They were designed and carefully crafted with faux crystals  and black epoxy enamel.  Ms. Rivers is known for her expensive jewelry and fashion sense. She wanted to design a product line that the average person could afford using her expertise and influence with manufacturers. She used her own “one of a kind” expensive vintage fine and fashion jewelry to replicate a lot of her fashion jewelry and accessories. She used the highest quality of materials in the replication. This brooch and earrings are an example of that workmanship and design. It delights the eye as it wanders over the sculpturing and gently curving of the petals of the rose with the values and reflection of the epoxy resin. The faux pave crystals outline every petal in silver adding dimension and sparkle in any light. This brooch is a bold, sophisticated, expensive looking, well-crafted designer contemporary masterpiece. Both the brooch and the earrings are elegant and timeless, like the “little black dress”. The brooch is substantial, like designer fine jewelry, due to its size (2 5/8” L x 3” W). The back of the brooch is curved and has slits to allow light to flitter through to the petals and add dimension. The earrings are clip ons. I have pierced ears but large pierced earrings fall forward on my ears due to my small ear lobes, so I purchased these in clip ons because they are very comfortable. This set is high end costume jewelry, like the “one of a kind handcrafted item” you would see at a boutique or high end retailers. In 1990, Joan Rivers was asked by QVC to develop a cosmetic line for sale on their site, instead she convinced the CEO to allow her to develop and design a high end costume jewelry line that was affordable to not only upper class but hard working middle class women. QVC accepted the offer and in September of that year she began what would be 24 years of designing jewelry, accessories, clothing until her death. She would appear on QVC periodically with her products and dazzle viewers with her expertise in fashion and jewelry design. She is best known for her remarkable bee pins and accessories. She often acknowledged that working with QVC and its many viewers was a huge point of pride for her. She owned an extensive collection of expensive fine and costume jewelry, which she used to design and make great accessories for all women, while inspiring and incorporating her style and high standards for quality in every piece. I am now retired and downsizing my own personal jewelry collection. All items are authentic and were purchased from reputable retailers. Most of the jewelry is new in the original pouch and boxes.
