They were kiln fused with stainless steel wires in the centers for forming the top loops to attach the earwires.  The French ear wires are pure sterling silver.   The colors in dichroic glass are composed of metal oxides that are applied to the glass in a laser induction kiln. It is a permanent layer that is often kiln fused under clear glass on top, which makes the surface smooth and shiny.  These are individually handcrafted drop earrings, as evidenced by the slight variations in appearance.
