Here's an incredible silver necklace w a silver sandcast naja pendant that holds a beautiful turquoise stone. In the center of the pendant (naja), the artist set the stone in a smooth bezel. This set was likely crafted in the 1950s or 1960s. The artist strung bench and melon (squash) beads on silver chain, then added the pendant that has an ornate design. In the center of the pendant (naja), the artist set the stone in a smooth bezel. This set was likely crafted in the 1950s or 1960s. The pyrite content in the turquoise reminds us of turquoise found in the Morenci mine in Arizona; however, its provenience has been lost to history. From tip to tip, the necklace is 26.5" long. The pendant adds a drop of about 2  1/2"; it is about 1  3/4" wide. The turquoise stone is about 7/16" by 5/8". It weighs 62 g. Given the design and construction, it is likely the artist was Navajo. This piece is not signed, however, which is not uncommon for pieces of this age.
