The wood box features tiny pieces of various colored woods, bone and shell, cut and arranged in handsome geometric patterns that was characteristic of the crafts in Syria in the mid 20 th Century. It has a small diamond shape mosaic inlaid found on the underside of the hinged lid, inside the box. This box was acquired by us in the late 1970’s during our early years of collecting from an Antique Fair in San Francisco, California. It is in excellent condition with the exception of a small area of missing mosaic inlay on the back side corner of the box and short strip of wood on the bottom of the same area (please see photographs). Both issues were there when we acquired it from the vendor originally and they have not gotten worse. We have enjoyed having it displayed in our den of exotic and unusual arts and crafts from all over the world. Changes in our home make it necessary for us to find this lovely item a new home with a new appreciative owner. It would make a wonderful addition to any collection of vintage or antique boxes. It stands approximately 1.5” off the table to the top of the lid. This box weighs approximately 7.2 ounces. All measurements are approximate, but close. Condition: We carefully examined this item. As mentioned in the description, the inlaid wood box has a very small area on the left back corner side that has missing pieces. Neither issue distract from the beauty of this box when observed displayed on a table or shelf. There are various little nicks or light bumps noted here and there, but none obvious without careful scrutiny. Inside the box there is a name "TIM" written in pencil on the bottom.
