Antique Chinese porcelain swatow, or zhangzhou, blue and white bowl. The common kiln grit on swatow porcelain hints at rushed production. Foot rim, with significant kiln grit, dates this piece to the Wanli era (1573 - 1620) of the Ming dynasty (1368 - 1644). Antique Chinese porcelain swatow, or zhangzhou, blue and white bowl  Features a floral motif, with blooming chrysanthenums decorating the bowl’s inner medallion, as well as inner rim.  Decorated using underglaze cobalt Underside features overlapping, thick cobalt ring around base Foot rim, with significant kiln grit, dates this piece to the Wanli era (1573 - 1620) of the Ming dynasty (1368 - 1644) Swatow/Zhangzhou, ware was a late Ming export porcelain meant for the Southeast Asian market, especially Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, and Japan. Archeological evidence points to production of these wares starting between 1575 and 1650, although earlier may also be possible. Peak production levels seem to have ended around 1620.
