The No. 44 is the premium, adjustable-tension model. Up for sale is a fantastic, highly collectible vintage "Yankee" No. 44 Automatic Push Drill manufactured by North Bros. Mfg. Co. in Philadelphia, PA. This tool completely predates the 1946 acquisition by Stanley Tools. It features the early, desirable North Bros. font along with the Jan 21, 02 and Mar 21, 05 patent dates stamped into the metal sleeve. The No. 44 is the premium, adjustable-tension model. It features a knurled metal adjustment ring that lets the user change the spring tension for drilling into hardwoods versus softwoods. Includes 9 Original Bits: The built-in revolving storage magazine inside the handle is holding 9 original straight-fluted drill points. These vintage bits are highly sought after since modern bits will not fit this historic chuck mechanism. Smooth Mechanical Condition: The spiral pump-action seems to spin cleanly, the chuck locks securely, and the tension-selector parts are intact. Honest Patina: It features an authentic, uncleaned vintage look with the original nickel plating showing a beautiful brass bleed-through from decades of dedicated trade use.
