View VTG Mid-Century Modern Brutalist Cast Iron Male Figure 21.5" Giacometti Style with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. See more info under “CONDITION” below. The sculpture has an intentionally aged, mottled bronze/green/brown appearance with extensive surface texture characteristic of the piece. The black stone base shows normal signs of age and handling, including surface marks/scratches. This is a vintage, unusual and highly sculptural mid-century Modern Brutalist-style cast iron standing male figure sculpture. The figure depicts a unclothed standing man with his arms crossed across his chest and his head tilted slightly to one side. The sculpture itself stands 19” tall and is mounted on a substantial square black stone plinth that looks to be either marble or quartz. Overall height is 21.5” The elongated human form, simplified facial features, textured surface and attenuated proportions are characteristic of the Mid-Century Modernist/Brutalist aesthetic , with a strong resemblance to the elongated human forms associated with the Giacometti tradition. See more info under “CONDITION” below The sculpture is unmarked and unsigned , and the artist/manufacturer has not been identified. Materials: The figure appears to be cast iron or another ferrous cast metal with an aged bronze/verdigris-colored finish and a burnished gold decorative finish that creates a satin-like subtle texture that catches the light . A magnet was tested on multiple areas of the figure and attracts throughout the entire sculpture. Therefore, I am not representing this as solid bronze. The base appears to be black marble or granite. Measurements: Overall height: 21.5" Figure height: approximately 19" Stone base: approximately 2.5" high Base: approximately 3.75" × 3.75" Total weight: approximately 8 lbs. Condition: Very good to excellent vintage/display condition. The sculpture has an intentionally aged, mottled bronze/green/brown appearance with extensive surface texture characteristic of the piece. There are no known cracks or breaks to the figure or the base. The black stone base shows normal signs of age and handling, including surface marks/scratches. The sculpture is being sold in its found condition. I have not polished, stripped or refinished the figure , and recommend leaving the existing finish/patina intact.
