In my family for more than 50 years, here is a unique and beautiful vintage MURANO art glass egg paperweight, made to lie horizontal, and it is in excellent vintage condition.  It has the original foil importer label (Golden Crown E&R) and was made using the traditional Italian millefiori ("thousand flowers") technique, with multicolored glass canes under a clear glass dome. From online research: The Maker and Label Breakdown The foil shield sticker belongs to Golden Crown E&R, which was a prominent mid-century American importer. The Importer: "E&R" stands for Ebeling & Ruess, a company based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, that specialized in bringing fine European giftware and ceramics to North America. The Origin: During the mid-20th century (the 1950s through the 1970s), Ebeling & Ruess partnered closely with glass furnaces on the island of Murano, Italy, to mass-manufacture high-quality art glass specifically for the export market. The Technique:  Crafted using the traditional millefiori (Italian for "thousand flowers") technique, where cross-sections of multicolored glass canes are fused together under a clear glass dome. While it is a commercial production piece, it is still genuine vintage Italian art glass made using the authentic methods of Murano. Design Features: Designed with an intentional, flat display facet on the side so the egg lies horizontally without rolling, beautifully showcasing the flower pattern to the viewer.
