During my childhood years in the Midwest, I had the opportunity to observe great numbers of Canadian geese making their annual flight over the heartland.  Ours was a small farming community with many marshes that would provide a safe resting area for the geese on their long journey from the Northern Canadian territory. What is quite amazing is the size of Canadian Geese.  Seeing them in flight does not give the perspective that you see when viewing them up close.  The marshes provided protection for them and cover for myself and my younger brothers who would quietly observe these marvels of flight. I came to greatly respect their stealth, strength, and beauty.
