This is 1980s Thumper. His cheeks are enormous. His little buck tooth is reporting for duty. With one tooth. 🐰✨ THUMPER HAS ARRIVED, AND APPARENTLY HE HAS SEEN SOME THINGS. Look at this face. This is not modern Thumper. Modern Thumper has licensing meetings. Modern Thumper has coordinated Easter merchandise and probably an Instagram strategy. This is 1980s Thumper. This Thumper remembers when you went to Disneyland armed with a paper map, a disposable camera, six dollars your grandmother folded into your pocket, and absolutely no ability to locate another member of your family once somebody wandered off near Space Mountain. And somehow… everyone survived. Mostly. He stands about 9 inches tall and comes directly from that magnificent era of Disney plush where nobody was particularly concerned with making the characters look perfectly symmetrical. His cheeks are enormous. His little buck tooth is reporting for duty. His yellow feet are ready for absolutely nothing strenuous. And his eyes have the unmistakable expression of a rabbit who has been sitting quietly for approximately four decades waiting for somebody to explain what happened to Epcot. Nobody tell him about Genie+. Actually, nobody tell me either. I don't have the emotional bandwidth. 🐇💛 He's the classic gray, white and yellow Thumper from Disney's Bambi , complete with floppy ears, fluffy white chest and tail, bright little red nose, and the general appearance of someone who would absolutely tell you that if you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all… then immediately go gossip behind a tree. The tag is still attached and marked Disneyland / Walt Disney World © Disney , with the reverse identifying Anasa Trading Corp., Burbank, California , Product of Korea , model MFR-114 . Between the park tag, Korean manufacture and wonderfully specific vintage plush construction, this little guy is giving us some glorious old-school Disney souvenir energy. And unlike approximately 94% of childhood plush toys from this era, Thumper did not apparently spend his formative years being dragged through a sandbox, fed applesauce, used as a pillow during chicken pox, and eventually discovered underneath a sibling in the backseat of a wood-paneled station wagon. He's still here. Forty-ish years later. Sitting politely. With one tooth. Judging us.
