I selected the top grade pearls which are usually made into either a strand of pearls or a ring. As it doesn't show from the front, it is an acceptable practice. A ring or dangle earrings were also considered so it was very important that the pearls be exceptional all the way around. This listing is for a beautiful set of black Tahitian pearl stud earrings on a 14kt white gold post.  They are beautiful. I hand picked the pearls loose, had them drilled and posts inserted to turn into earrings.  I selected the top grade pearls which are usually made into either a strand of pearls or a ring.  Because you can not see the back portion of the pearl, it is fairly common to use pearls which have some defects in the rear.  As it doesn't show from the front, it is an acceptable practice.  However, I wasn't sure what I intended to do with the pearls at the time I purchased them.   A ring or dangle earrings were also considered so it was very important that the pearls be exceptional all the way around.  The wholesaler's graded the pearls as: Overall Grading: AA Surface Markings and Blemishes: AA (very slight pin prick on back) Shape:  AAA Round Luster: AAA Excellent Color:  Black with peacock green and light peacock blue overtones. Pearl Size: 11.2mm 11.3mm The posts are both hallmarked "14kt".     They do not come with the butterfly backs.  Most women are like me and have a bunch of backs, none of which are designated to go only with one particular earring. The pearls are 11.2 to 11.3mm, which is a perfect size to have as an earring.  I included the photos on the mannequin (who has an adult sized head) so that you can see what they look like on.  As you can see it is not necessary to wear the black pearls only with a matching necklace or pendant.   The black pearl strand and enhancer are not included in the listing but are for purposes of illustration only.  Please do not confuse these pearls with "shell pearls" or freshwater pearls or pearls which are dyed black.  These are the real thing and I am selling at my wholesale cost from almost 20 years ago!  In a retail store they would be in excess of $1,000.00  There are so many fakes in the market that the real thing has lost some meaning much as cubic zircon did to diamonds. The difference in the long run is that the fakes do hold their value and will not be passed down to your loved ones! In the event the item is damaged in transit it is essential that you retain all the shipping materials so a claim can be made for reimbursement as the item has been insured. Fragile items most be double boxed or most insurance will not cover damage.  That means that fragile items will cost more to ship because the package will be larger and heavier, thus costing more.  I ship insured to cover loss, damage or theft while in transit.  If you are a gambler and want to assume the risk of loss and write a message to that effect, I will ship either without insurance or for an amount less than the selling price.  In the event of theft, loss or damage during transit you would not be reimbursed for the cost of the item.  So is anyone really going to skip insurance?  I know that the insurance charge is usually the reason things cost a lot to ship.  I don't set the rates, but I do however pay them! PHOTOS AND DESCRIPTIONS I spend hours taking photographs of each item.  For jewelry items and hats, I have purchased an adult sized mannequin bust and silicon hands cast from an adult female's lower arm and hand.  Frequently it is easier to "see" the size of an item when worn than when laid against a ruler or described.  Photos are taken in natural light with a flash when necessary.  For jewelry items I use a macro lens to give you details you would otherwise be unable to see.  The only editing I do to photographs is to crop out the extraneous background so that only the item is in the photo.  For clothing I purchased a size 12 dress form to display the items.  This gives a superior representation in my opinion as well as allowing me to photograph all sides.  Typically I have numerous photographs which are not used in the listing.  If you would like additional views message me and I will send what ever you need.  The photographs are considered a part of the description and it is the EBay buyer's responsibility to review the photographs prior to bidding. The description will include all the information I have available about the item including size, weight, age and any defects.  Most of my items are not brand new so you would expect there to be some signs of use.  With diamonds, I test to insure they are authentic. A good Ebay customer will closely examine all photographs, read the description, with clothing check their own measurements against those provided to insure fit and ask any question before they bid.
