Description
View c 1920 Hammersley & Co milk jug & sugar bowl "Queen Anne" chintz pattern #13166 with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. The lovely squat milk jug stands 7 cm tall and spans 10 cm from the outer edge of the handle to the outer edge of the spout. c 1920 Hammersley & Co fluted milk jug and sugar bowl, spectacular "Queen Anne" chintz pattern #13166, one of the harder to find patterns from this wonderful producer. Produced in the Alsager pottery, Longton, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. Dimensions: The lovely squat milk jug stands 7 cm tall and spans 10 cm from the outer edge of the handle to the outer edge of the spout. The sugar bowl stands 6 cm tall and has a diameter of 11.5 cm. Masses of gorgeous hand painted flowers in the most brilliant colours, with heavy gilding around the edges, truly spectacular. The colours and gilding remain bright, crisp and fresh. The various pieces I have listed in this pattern were made to order for the retailer John Bates & Co Ltd in Christchurch, New Zealand. In almost perfect "as new" original antique condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration that I can identify, but there is some staining to the inside of the milk jug, refer image 7. Otherwise this piece is in pristine condition with absolutely no sign of use. There are a few random, very small kiln fleck or glaze marks, and some micro crazing, entirely consistent with the manual production techniques of the time. The reverse of both pieces bear the Hammersley & Co China England back stamp, the retailer's details, and a hand written pattern number. I have listed duos, trios and 2 serving plates in this pattern separately. I do combine postage for multiple purchases where practical and will refund any difference immediately after posting.
