David Andersen, apprenticed to Jacob Tostrup in Christiania (now Oslo), established his own workshop in 1876, introducing his own mark, "David Andersen” After David Andersen's death in 1901, his son Arthur took over the company and changed his surname to David-Andersen. The company continued to keep pace with artistic trends throughout the 20th century, producing beautifully crafted silver pieces and fine jewelry in styles like Naturalism, Dragestil (Dragon Style), Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Art Moderne, and Modernism.
