Small edge chips noted in photos due to age and handling see photos stunning, highly collectible pieces of traditional Mexican folk art: a vintage Oaxaca Barro Negro (Black Clay) reticulated vase. This exquisite piece features intricate, hand-tooled geometric cutouts and openwork (reticulation) throughout the body, beautifully contrasted by subtly fluted, hand-molded edges. True to the historic Oaxacan tradition, this vase was crafted entirely by hand without a potter's wheel. The deep, metallic black-grey coloration is completely natural, achieved purely through a specialized oxygen-reduced firing process in underground kilns. It features a gorgeous matte finish that Highlights the raw texture of the native clay. Perfect as a standalone sculptural centerpiece, an addition to a global folk art collection, or styled on a bohemian mantel. Overall Status: Very good vintage condition with no cracks, major chips, or repairs. Artisanal Characteristics: As a handmade item, it features minor organic asymmetries and faint tooling marks characteristic of authentic artisan pottery. Please inspect the photos carefully to assess cosmetics. Usage Note: This is traditional unglazed pottery and is naturally porous; it is meant for dry display or use with a structural liner. Do not fill directly with water. These came from the estate of a native of Mexico who acquired them long ago and married an American and was here 50+ years ,according to the salesperson.
