The exterior began as many individual pieces of previously used fabric in different colors, textures, and patterns. The individual pieces were arranged and joined by machine to form a new patchwork textile before the bag was assembled. THE BOHEMIAN TAPESTRY ONE OF ONE — NEVER RECREATED This one-of-a-kind shoulder bag was designed and handmade entirely by the artist from a collection of reclaimed fabric remnants, textile fragments, ribbons, lace, beads, broken jewelry, and rescued decorative elements. The exterior began as many individual pieces of previously used fabric in different colors, textures, and patterns. These fragments were arranged into a patchwork composition and stitched together by machine to create a completely new textile surface. The finished patchwork became the exterior structure of the bag. After the bag was constructed, lace, ribbons, beads, broken jewelry pieces, trims, and numerous small decorative elements were individually arranged and attached by hand. The two removable handles were created as dimensional braids and decorated with an assortment of fabrics, ribbons, beads, and ornamental fragments. Their layered construction continues the richly embellished character of the bag. The interior is lined with unused leftover pieces of new cotton fabric. This bag required approximately two full days of work to complete. No mass production. No duplicate. This is the only bag of its kind. Once sold, an identical piece will never be created again. Exterior Construction The exterior was created from many different reclaimed fabric scraps and textile remnants. The individual pieces were arranged and joined by machine to form a new patchwork textile before the bag was assembled. The lace, ribbons, beads, jewelry pieces, and other decorative embellishments were arranged and attached by hand. All decorations shown as part of the bag are included. Interior Construction The bag is lined with unused leftover pieces of new cotton fabric. Because the lining was created from textile remnants rather than newly purchased yardage selected specifically for this project, the individual pieces may vary slightly in color or pattern. The interior does not contain pockets. Closure The bag has an open top and does not have a zipper, button, snap, magnetic closure, or other fastening. Please consider the open construction when deciding what items to carry inside. Valuable or very small loose objects should be placed inside a separate zippered pouch before being carried in the bag. Pockets The bag does not contain exterior or interior pockets. The interior consists of one open main compartment. Handles The bag includes two decorated braided handles. Each handle is removable and attaches to the bag’s hardware. The handles are not adjustable. If both handles are removed, the bag does not have another handle or strap and cannot be carried normally until the handles are reattached. All decorative fabrics, ribbons, beads, and embellishments permanently attached to the handles are included. The depth was measured from the front to the back at the widest part of this four-sided base. Because the bag is made from soft textiles, its depth and overall shape may change slightly depending on how the bag is positioned or filled. The decorated handles have an irregular braided and embellished surface. The one-inch width is approximate and may vary along different sections of each handle. The handle length was measured from one attachment point to the other along each handle. All measurements are approximate. How to Wear The bag is designed to be carried on the shoulder using the two included braided handles. The approximately 13.5-inch strap drop allows the bag to rest beneath the arm or against the side of the body.
