Important Barovier, Seguso & Ferro (BS&F) Soffiato Vase Model z1508 | Designed c. 1934–1936 by Vittorio Zecchin | Murano, Italy Offered is an exceptionally rare and museum-documented Murano glass vase produced by the celebrated and short-lived partnership Barovier Seguso Ferro (B.S.F.). Designed in 1936, this vase corresponds to model Z1508, a refined and architecturally balanced form that exemplifies the Italian Novecento aesthetic that reshaped Murano glassmaking in the mid-1930s. Design & Provenance: Executed in a rich and luminous emerald green, the vase is blown using the soffiato technique with vertical ribbing (costolature). The elegant trumpet-shaped neck rises from a globular body, its subtle ribs creating optical movement and depth as light passes through the glass. The form reflects the period’s transition away from ornament toward clarity of silhouette, proportion, and surface rhythm. Significantly, this model is documented in the Fondazione Giorgio Cini archives, Venice Archivio reference: AVSEG-D012-003 Series: Modelli Z1500 Model: Z1508 Date: 1936 The archival drawing confirms this vase as an original BSF design, firmly anchoring it within the firm’s most important pre-war production period. Objects from the Barovier Seguso Ferro era are particularly sought after, as the partnership lasted only a few years before evolving into Seguso Vetri d’Arte, making documented BSF designs increasingly scarce.
