Condition is excellent overall. The porcelain, painted decoration and gilt surfaces remain remarkably well preserved. An impressive pair of antique Sèvres-style porcelain and gilt bronze covered urns, each richly decorated with deep cobalt blue grounds, elaborate gilt ornament and hand-painted Napoleonic scenes. The principal painted panels depict Napoleon on horseback, with additional figural scenes on the reverse. The paintings are signed “Garnier.” Each urn is mounted with finely modeled gilt bronze winged female figures and rests on a square bronze base supported by figural eagle feet. The pair measures approximately 19” high, 7 3/4” across, with bases just under 6” square. Condition is excellent overall. No chips, cracks or significant wear observed. The porcelain, painted decoration and gilt surfaces remain remarkably well preserved. Please examine all photographs closely as they form an important part of the condition description. I have owned this pair for more than 20 years and have not encountered another example of this design. An unusually decorative and substantial pair with exceptional visual presence.
