Auction Wizard 2000 Listing Template - AW2KLOT#:15349  This is an authentic World War II recruitment poster for the United States Marine Corps Women's Reserve,  printed 1943. The artwork, created by the McCandlish Litho Corporation, features a woman Marine in uniform looking resolutely forward while male Marines engage in combat in the background. Its famous slogan, "Be a Marine... Free a Marine to fight," was designed to encourage women to take over clerical and support roles, thereby "freeing" men for frontline combat. It measures 27 x 37 inches. There are small stain specks throughout the poster, also along the bottom area are some light creases in the paper, backside has some browning.
