Beautiful antique Hand Painted Nippon oval porcelain celery or relish dish, decorated with a delicate floral motif, raised moriage accents , and gold gilt trim. Oval handled or scalloped dishes of this form were often used as celery dishes, relish dishes, or small serving dishes during the late Victorian/Edwardian tableware period. This piece features pink rose-style blossoms and purple floral sprays set within soft cream panels, with raised gold moriage scrollwork and a bright white porcelain body. The scalloped oval shape gives it a very elegant table presentation. Condition is excellent for age. No chips or cracks. The hand-painted floral decoration and raised moriage accents remain intact. There is some expected wear/loss to the gold gilt, especially along the rim, which is very typical for antique Nippon porcelain. The bowl presents clean and bright with only very minor surface wear visible on close inspection. It appears to have been used very sparingly. Measures approximately 7.5" long x 4.5" wide x 1.75" tall . A lovely antique Nippon serving piece for display, collection, or use as a small candy, relish, trinket, or vanity dish.
