A lot of two antique Victorian hat pins — essential accessories of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, used to secure large decorative hats to elaborate hairstyles. Both feature the classic twisted/barleycorn shaft construction typical of the period. Pin 1 — Rose-Gold Shaft, Rhinestone Cluster Flower Head: Gilt brass / gold-filled twisted shaft, approximately 5–5.5" long. The head features a large central foiled paste/rhinestone stone in a claw setting surrounded by a halo of smaller rhinestones, all in a gilt brass mount. The stones show darkening and patina consistent with age — all appear present and intact. Pin 2 — Silver-Tone Shaft, Single Stone Head: Silver-toned twisted shaft, approximately 5.5–6" long, with a distinctive S-curve/goose-neck bend below the head — a functional design to prevent slippage. The head features a single faceted paste/rhinestone in an open four-prong claw setting. Prongs show slight spreading. Stone appears clear to light lavender. Metal: Neither pin tests positive for solid gold or silver — consistent with gold-filled/gilt brass (pin 1) and nickel silver/silver plate (pin 2). Condition: Pre-owned antique condition. Both pins show age-appropriate wear including tarnish, darkened stones, and patina. Prongs on pin 2 are slightly open. Sold as-is as found. Please examine all photos carefully.
