VINTAGE **~ MARKED "SU" ~ **   ~* STERLING SILVER    *~ ~ BLACK ONYX & MARCASITE  ~  *  GOTHIC STYLE COCKTAIL RING * Size 8.25 _______________________________ SIZE : This ring is an approximate size 8.25  (Please see ring on ring stick) ~ Actual measurements are as follows: Front, Focal Heart Area = 1/2" in height; 5/8" in width ~ Band is relatively small and measures just over 1/16" in height all the way around  ~ Amethyst piece is an oval and measures 1/4” in height: 3/8” in width ~ Total weight for this ring is about 3.6 grams .  DESCRIPTION : This auction features a vintage SU sterling silver heart ring. I do feel this ring has definite Gothic overtones due to the black onyx heart. In addition, the outer edges on the front bear tiny marcasites. The band is relatively classic in styling and does not bear any designs.  It would make a great addition to any heart-themed jewelry collection. MARKINGS: This piece is marked inside with "925" for sterling silver and the letters "SU" inside a small oval. Although I've come across this marking in the past, I've never had a lot of luck finding what the initials stand for. Please feel free to drop me a line if you happen to know.  CONDITION: FAIR ~ I am considering the age and use of this item when factoring the condition rating. I do feel this ring rates in Fair condition for the age and use of it. I do not see any major issues with it that should keep it from being used. It does have some minor surface scratches seen, but nothing I would personally consider unusual for the age or use of it . There is some definite soiling seen -- particularly to the inside, back of the heart areas. I also noted some minor tarnishing, as well. I do not see any missing or damaged marcasites, and the black onyx appears to be doing ok with no issues to report. I will, however, leave any cleaning or polishing to the new owner. Although I do feel this ring was loved and used in the past, I have every belief that it has plenty of years of enjoyment and use still left in it. If there is anything I may have missed where the condition is concerned, please feel free to message me and I'll be happy to help. All in all, I would still say this ring rates in FAIR condition overall.
