The tray features a rectangular shape with rounded ends and decorative handles, adorned with gold floral patterns and blue accents along the rim. These patterns are characteristic of the aesthetic popular in Western markets during that era. Stunning antique porcelain serving bowl from Japan. Scalloped edges and paneled sides, lots of gilding and an interesting design makes this one special. Bright white with lots of gold and areas of a pale yellow. About 10 1/4" across at rim. Marked "Hand Painted Nippon" although the Nippon portion has worn off. Circa 1891 to 1921. During this period, U.S. law required imported goods to be marked with their country of origin, and "Nippon" was the Japanese term used at the time. The tray features a rectangular shape with rounded ends and decorative handles, adorned with gold floral patterns and blue accents along the rim. These patterns are characteristic of the aesthetic popular in Western markets during that era. The base of the tray is white, providing a contrasting backdrop for the intricate designs. Nippon porcelain is known for its delicate craftsmanship and was primarily made for export.
