This elegant piece showcases a black mother-of-pearl front and is suspended from a stunning, ornate book chain with matching rose and yellow gold leaf details. The locket is unmarked, but we believe it to be gold filled based on its construction and comparable examples. (We have seen a very similar necklace described as having solid 10K gold leaves; however, this piece has not been tested, so we cannot confirm that.) The locket opens from the back to hold a treasured photograph. The original glass insert was missing, so a clear plastic cover has been added to securely protect your photo. One of the unique features of this piece is that the locket can be slipped off the large front spring clasp and worn as a brooch/pin if desired, offering versatile styling options. Measurements: Locket: 1½" x 1⅜" Book chain: 19" long Condition: Very good antique condition with expected age-related wear. The front spring clasp closes securely and appears to have an old solder repair, consistent with the age of the piece.
