Antique Victorian cameo brooch, yellow gold-filled frame mounting, with pin back and gold-down loop for pendant wear, featuring an Italian hand carved cornelian shell lady cameo, she faces to the left, she has a garland of flowers in her hair, nicely carved face, hair drop earring and dress, very sculptural, as her hair is carved in very high relief, see side views, beautiful use of the natural coloration of the shell, her face and neck are pale, and her floral garland and dress show pale orange color, measuring 1-3/4" x 1-3/8" overall, unmarked, good antique condition, at the center of the left edge of the cameo, it looks like there is a curved crack or hairline, but in fact it is an area that was carved out and perhaps thinned, no sign of a hairline on the back, previously owned, from a local estate.
