Kholuy miniature (traditional Russian folk lacquer art originating from the Ivanovo region). This exquisite collectible originates from the famous Kholuy art school, known for its distinct, vibrant narrative paintings and architectural landscapes. The lid features a stunning, multi-layered panoramic view of the ancient town of Suzdal, a prominent gem of Russia's "Golden Ring." The artwork showcases traditional Russian Orthodox churches with their iconic onion domes, detailed bell towers, and historic log-cabin wooden structures nestled among rolling hills under an atmospheric night sky. The painting is beautifully framed by a classic, delicate gold-dotted filigree border along the edges of the box. The inside of the lid and base feature the iconic, glossy black lacquer exterior and rich red interior finish characteristic of high-quality Russian folk art. Artwork & Lid: The central miniature painting remains vibrant and clear. "There are minor fine craquelure visible under close lighting (lid and sides); other painted surfaces are mostly smooth with no chips but slight green oxidation on some areas of brass gold hinges.
