Original vintage Soviet poster reproduction from the 1983 portfolio “Leningrad Under Siege: Posters 1941–1944” (Ленинград в блокаде. Плакаты 1941–1944) , published by Aurora Art Publishers in Leningrad, USSR. This particular sheet reproduces a genuine wartime poster created in besieged Leningrad in 1943 by noted Soviet graphic artist Alexei F. Pakhomov (Алексей Пахомов) . The original Russian slogan reads: “Comrades! Strengthen the self-defense groups in your homes! Vigilantly protect your homes and your enterprises from enemy air raids!”   The original 1943 poster was published in Leningrad by the State Art Publishing House (“Iskusstvo”). An original wartime example is held in the collection of the State Russian Museum. This sheet, however, is not a 1943 original . It is the vintage 1983 Soviet reproduction , issued approximately 40 years after the wartime original as part of the collectible Aurora portfolio devoted to posters of the Siege of Leningrad.   Details Artist of original poster: Alexei F.
